U.S. Rep. Marc Molinaro, R-NY-19, announced he is requesting $60 million in federal funding for community development projects in New York’s 19th Congressional District. Some of those projects are in Chenango, Delaware and Otsego counties.
According to a media release from Molinaro’s office, the House Appropriations Committee collects community development project requests from Members of Congress each year for consideration in the upcoming appropriations bill. The requests direct funding to local government or non-profit entities to carry out specific projects that are eligible for federal support and benefit the local community.
This year, Molinaro is requesting that the House Appropriations Committee approve $60 million in federal funding for projects that improve roadways and water infrastructure, help EMS agencies upgrade facilities, and makes public buildings and walkways ADA compliant, the release said.
“I came to Congress to deliver for Upstate New York. These funds will advance our local communities and address dire needs,” Molinaro said. “I’m fighting for this crucial funding to better our infrastructure, improve access to clean drinking water, and revamp our towns and villages.”
Local projects include:
Village of Greene water system improvements, $5 million. The funding would be used for investments in the water treatment andfiltration system for drinking water.Crumhorn Mountain conservation by Otsego County, $5 million. The funding would be used for the purchase and conservation of heavily forested lands and 63 acres of federal wetlands.Village of New Berlin drinking water infrastructure upgrades, $4 million. The funding would be used for replacing water distribution lines, putting in enhancements to the well house, pump house and storage facilities.Hamlet of Treadwell Water District Repair and Mandated Upgrades by the town of Franklin, $960,000. The funding would be used for upgrading and modernizing drinking water wells, water quality guards, and aging pipes.Hancock Fire Department, $900,000. The funding would be used for a new heavy rescue truck.
