Boys Lacrosse
Timberlane 11, Saint Thomas 4
One year ago, Saint Thomas ended the Timberlane lacrosse season in the Division II state quarterfinals. On Saturday, the Owls returned the favor.
“It’s all about the ride and defense,” said Owls coach Ken Blaszak. “Gary Shivel and Logan Johnson took out at Saint Thomas’ stars.”
Jack Condon scored seven goals to pace the winners. Mike Savage had three, and Rocco Psareas one.
Bryce Carty made six saves, and Joe Hughes had four.
The Owls will face top-seeded Portsmouth in Wednesday night’s semis at Nashua.
Catholic Memorial 19, Haverhill 6
The Hillies got three goals from Jakes Staples and singles from Ty Lescord, Pat McGowan and Trevor Lindmark.
Max Boyer made 15 saves in the net.
The Hillies finished up the fine campaign in the Division 1 Round of 32 with a 13-4 record.
Silver Lake 14, Methuen 11
The Rangers, who close out at 9-8, fell on the road in the Division 2 state preliminary round.
Jared Cripps and Brady Kloster had three goals apiece.
Owen Howell (1 goal, 3 assists) and Joey Casarano (1 goal, 2 assists) were active in the attack. Sean Morris, Quinn Vuystelke, and Eric Delaney also had goals.
Softball
Pinkerton 8, Exeter 6
After an 18-strikeout one-hitter in the tourney opener, Pinkerton freshman Julia Caruso made it two in a row in the postseason. This time, she got ample offensive help from her Astros’ teammates in the win.
Maddie Schoenenberger drove in three runs for Pinkerton. Mollie Wheale scored three runs, while Jennie Hiscox and Caitlyn Lemay each crossed the plate twice.
Caruso allowed four earned runs on seven hits and six walks, striking out 12.
The Astros now trek to Plymouth on Tuesday night to meet top-seeded arch-rival Londonderry in the state semis.
Londonderry 8, Windham 1
Freshmen Ava Runde had the lone hit for Windham, an RBI single in the first. Bella Yantosca had a solid game on defense. For the Lancers, sophomore Elisabeth Kearney pitched five innings of, no-hit, no-walk shutout relief, striking out eight, to earn the victory. She also doubled and blasted a two-run homer.
Baseball
Catholic Memorial 4, Central Catholic 2
The Raiders built a 2-0 lead in this Division 1 Round of 32 clash but host CM picked up one in the fourth and three more in the sixth to end the Central season.
Connor McNamara had Central’s only hit on the day and scored a run. Josh Florence took the loss, allowing three earned runs on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
Volleyball
Longmeadow 3, Greater Lawrence Tech 0
The Reggies fought through a brutal Friday, three-hour commute but were eliminated in the Division 2 Round of 32.
Keegan Doherty led with seven service points and eight kills. Kelvince Heang had a block and 12 digs, while Anthony Rubim added 15 assists.
“I’m so proud of the heart, leadership and drive of this team,” said coach Karla Mahoney, whose club finished at 12-9.
Boys Tennis
Andover 5, Bishop Feehan 0
Nik Narina, Akarsh Janarthanan and Connor Rea had straight-set singles wins. The doubles teams of Peter Doan-Sam Gomer and Kian Keyhan-Hridai Dharan also rolled.
