KALKASKA — Frederick Morse, 47, is facing 10 felony counts related to possession of child pornography, according to a Michigan State Police news release.
Morse was arraigned Wednesday at the 87-B District Court in Kalkaska and charged with five counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and five counts of using a computer to commit a crime, court records showed.
Morse’s arrest and criminal charges come after an investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Sgt. Ashley Miller said.
Troopers were tipped off to investigate Morse for suspected possession of illegally explicit materials after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted them.
Their task force was assisted by the MSP K9 Team, 7th District Emergency Support Team and Fugitive Team, Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office and MSP Houghton Lake Post.
Miller said they encourage parents to talk to their children about safe internet use and to check out resources at http://www.missingkids.org or http://www.michiganicac.com.
Anyone with any information regarding alleged child sexual exploitation is encouraged to report it to law enforcement or to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at http://www.missingkids.org/cybertipline.
