Graduation season is upon us.
Some local high schools have already held graduation ceremonies, while others will send seniors across the stage and on to their next chapters later this week.
It’s the culmination of years of hard work, a journey that began with a young child entering kindergarten and ends with an educated young adult ready to face the future.
Years of early mornings and studying and tests and essays give way to a handshake, a diploma and a huge accomplishment.
That accomplishment was arrived at not only by the graduating student, but by the parents and families who drove students to school before work, packed lunches, waited by the bus stop or had a meal ready after a sports practice, band concert or another school event.
In the Friday, May 24, edition of the Dalton Daily Citizen, you’ll find a special section — our annual salute to local graduating seniors — inside.
You’ll see the smiling faces of the graduates from 10 local high schools: Christian Heritage School, Coahulla Creek High School, Dalton High School, Murray County High School, North Murray High School, Northwest Whitfield High School, Phoenix High School, Pleasant Valley Innovative School, Southeast Whitfield High School and The Dalton Academy.
No matter what the future has in store, we offer congratulations to all graduating seniors at each of our local high schools and to any homeschool students in our area who are graduating.
It’s the culmination of one journey, but just the beginning of the next one.
