CHAMPLAIN — After the Blue Bombers took an early 2-1 lead in the first inning, the Eagles responded with 10 more runs to blow the game open in a Section VII Class D semifinal, Friday.
Chazy’s Kennedy Columbus was efficient from the circle, giving up only eight hits while calming down the Lake Placid bats after the early runs.
Anisa Cecunjanin led the Blue Bombers with two hits, one of them being a triple. Teammate and starting pitcher Reid Pedu added a double.
Courtney Collins, Pender Bechard and Wynter Jarus had two hits apiece for the Eagles.
“”Credit to Lake Placid, they played very hard tonight and made some good defensive plays,” Chazy head coach Cory Thompson said. “I was proud of Kennedy Columbus for recording her 200th Career Strikeout.
Pender Bechard played extremely well for us tonight and Courtney Collins was solid behind the plate. We look forward to getting ready for our Semifinal Game against Crown Point Thursday .”
First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.

NORTH CREEK — If one liked offense, the Class D contest between the Griffins and Wild Irish was one to be at.
Johsnburg-Minerva held an 11-4 lead entering the fifth inning, before the offense came alive for Boquet Valley. The Griffins would take the lead with an 11 run inning and wouldn’t relinquish it, in their 18-15 victory.
The Wild Irish did all they could with multiple players recording multiple hits. They battled to the end, cutting the deficit to three before they ran out of outs.
J/M’s Eloise Noel and Mackenzie Mulligan led the way offensive as they hit a home run and triple, respectively. Lucia Williams, Hannah Sharp and Lexi Sharp recorded doubles.
Boquet Valley’s Claire Reynolds led the way offensive with three hits, including a double.
The Griffins now advance to the Class D semifinals where they face top seed Bolton. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

BEEKMANTOWN 4
BEEKMANTOWN — NCCS edged out Beekmantown to close out the regular season, 6-4.
“This was a very evenly played game,” Eagles head coach Michele Barnes said. “The pitchers for both teams threw really well and limited opportunities to score.
“The difference in the game was our errors. They took advantage of a couple mistakes and turned them into enough runs to win the game.”
All pitchers were admirable in the game as NCCS’ Bailee Lafountain, Beekmantown’s Laci LaPier and Addi Jewell, limited hits and scoring chances. Lafountain struck out five as LaPier and Jewell got three and two Ks, respectively.
The Cougars’ Krista Sebert added a triple as Eagles Ashley Barnes and Hailey Tripi recorded a double each.
“Kylee Surprenant played a great game defensively for them and Lindsay Barnes played great defensively for us,” Michele Barnes said.

SARANAC 9
PLATTSBURGH 1
PLATTSBURGH — Irelyn Ryan had a strong day from the circle as she struck out 15 in a 9-1 Saranac victory over Plattsburgh.
Ryan limited the Hornets to 6 hits as she only gave up one hit.
“The score doesn’t really show it but our defense made a lot of really good plays,” Plattsburgh head coach Cindy McMahon said. “So we are proud of how far they have all come defensively.
“The difference was their pitcher. She pitched great and was ahead of our hitters all night.
She struck out 15 and only walked one, and that’s going to make it hard for any team to be competitive.”
Layla Pellerin led the way with three hits for the Spartans as Elizabeth Record, Molly Denis and Ryan had two hits each.
PHS’ Sadie Guerin had two hits as well.
Both Guerin and Ryan recorded a double
“Saranac is a good team and they did it all better tonight,” McMahon said. “Our girls played hard but we fell short.
“There were still a lot of positives to draw from that should help in the playoffs.”
