CHAMPLAIN — Bailee Lafountain accounted for over 400 yards of total offense and five passing touchdowns as NCCS would go on to defeat NAC, 57-6.
“We are thrilled with our first Sectionals win,” Cougars head coach Kristen Patnode said. “The girls really clicked tonight and executed what we have been working on beautifully.”
NCCS scored evenly over both halves as Lafountain hit her groove early and often.
“Brynn Hite had her best game of the season offensively and defensively,” Patnode said. “Her 40 yard sprint to a diving tackle that saved a TD from occurring was phenomenal. She should be really proud of the performance she put in.
“Maddie Arno also had her best game of the season. Her foot work was brilliant on her runs. Once again, Bailee and Desiree’s link ups were spot on.”
Hite and Dubois recorded 94 and 97 yards, respectively through receptions. Arno combined for 95 total yards with 58 of them in receiving.
Arno and Dubois both were on the receiving end of two touchdowns as Ella Lafountain caught the fifth of Bailee Lafountain’s five touchdowns.
In all, Lafountain was effective in the passing game as she spread the ball to eight different receivers.
“Coach Boyea and I were extremely impressed with the improvement in the NAC girls,” Patnode said. “They played a great game, and in our opinion, are the most improved team we have encountered. They will be a team that is only going to get better next season.”
With the win, NCCS advances to play Division II’s Keene in the quarterfinals. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. in Keene Valley.
