TIFTON- The Tift County Republican Party presented scholarships on April 9 to three high school seniors planning to further their education.
To qualify for the scholarship, students were required to reside in Tift County and submit an essay on “Why are the Constitution and Bill of Rights so important and how can we continue to protect them?”
Stephen Denham was the overall essay winner, receiving $1,000 to continue a higher education at Mercer University this fall, where he plans to pursue a degree in biology.
Camryn Collier was the runner-up and received $500 to further her education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, where she plans to pursue a degree in education.
Jabari Jones received Honorable Mention and was awarded $250 to continue his education at Fort Valley State, where he plans on majoring in biology.
The members of the Tift County Republican Party say they are excited about the future of the outstanding young citizens who participated in the essay contest.
“They deserve recognition for their individual accomplishments and best wishes for continued success in their endeavors,” said Majorie Womack.
