THOMPSONVILLE — Mary Bevans Gillett, executive director of the Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Network and Record-Eagle contributor, won this year’s Legacy Award.
The Legacy Award, given by Michigan Legacy Art Park, recognizes those who make a “positive impact,” and show the “power of collaboration and peer influence,” according to an Michigan Legacy Art Park statement.
Gillett’s position since 2018 is as a convener with the Northwest Michigan Arts & Culture Network. She also formerly headed the Old Town Playhouse, was the marketing director for Downtown Traverse City, including the State Theatre, and more.
Gillett also served on the Impact 100 Traverse City board, chaired the Traverse City Arts Commission, and was involved in the Arts Midwest Michigan Advisory Committee; Cultural Advocacy Network; and on founding committees of the Traverse City Film Festival and Dennos Museum Center’s Discovery Room.
“As her many accomplishments attest, Gillett is extremely deserving of this award,” the statement read.
Gillett officially receives the award at the Art Park’s annual Legacy Gala on Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. at Crystal Mountain Resort. The gala is a fundraiser with a dinner and silent auction.
