The Ukrainian Words Project’s tour of Minnesota includes a local stop. Theatre Novi Most’s Mankato performance is slated 7:30 p.m. April 30 in Minnesota State University’s Earley Center for the Performing Arts, 320 Maywood Ave.
The show is designed to showcase new work and to promote community healing.

The event will begin with an hourlong staged reading under the direction of founders Lisa Channer and Vladimir Rovinsky. The readings will be performed in English with printed play texts provided in Ukrainian. Ukrainian and Russian translators will be on hand during Story Circles designed for audience participation.
Donations to support Ukrainian efforts will be accepted.
Youth science fair set at MSU
Future scientists’ projects are the focus of the 73rd annual Regional Science and Engineering Fair for third through sixth grade students Saturday in Myers Field House at Minnesota State University.
The general public may view the 240 individual and 40 team entries in the elementary division fair. Students will display projects and provide oral presentations while competing to earn awards from event sponsors.
A free exhibit hall will be open noon to 2 p.m. and an awards ceremony begins 2 p.m. in the Taylor Center’s Bresnan Arena.
MSU’s College of Science, Engineering and Technology is the host for the event, the state’s only elementary division fair.
Participating students use the experience as an opportunity to add to their understanding of scientific methods through the formulation of ideas and hands-on experimentation.

Community farm seeking volunteers
Blue Earth County Community Farm’s 2024 season has begun. Volunteers are needed to help with tasks at the farm, which grows fresh produce for emergency food pantries.

Open house set for SSU dental program
South Central College’s Dental Assisting program is the host of an open house 3-6 p.m. April 30 in the Clinical Sciences Building at Minnesota State University, 150 Park Road.
SCC currently shares a learning space with the university’s dental hygiene program. The program offers an associate of applied science degree as well as a diploma option.
The event is for anyone interested in learning more about the program. Attendees should park in Lot 5A. Lot 5 has been designated for overflow parking.
Program applications are being accepted through May 31 for students who wish to start in the fall semester.
