Amesbury softball taking over Southern Maine
You knew the University of Southern Maine softball program locked up a strong recruiting class when it landed the Amesbury trio of Olivia Levasseur, Ella Bezanson and Alana DeLisle two years ago. Fresh off leading the Redhawks to the Division 4 State Championship at the time, it was perfectly clear that these athletes can play.
Now all sophomores for the Huskies, they are proving exactly that.
Levasseur has started all 26 games for the Huskies (19-7) this spring, and is second on the team with a stellar .446 average (33-for-74) and a 1.074 OPS. Then both Bezanson and DeLisle have been crucial bench pieces who have each played in 18 games and started 9 of them. DeLisle is hitting .280 (7-for-25) with 6 RBI, while Bezanson is hitting .250 and has scored 4 runs.

Cam Smith stepping up
It looks like our reigning Daily News Boys Lacrosse MVP has had no issues up at the collegiate level. Former Pentucket star goalie Cam Smith, a Merrimac native, has played in four games this spring for Keene State (6-6) and has allowed just four goals in 49 minutes with 13 saves.
