A handful of Pentucket track and field athletes traveled down to St. John’s Prep on Friday to compete in the annual Bay State Running Mid-Distance Classic.
Top among the finishers for the Panthers was superstar distance runner Kaylie Dalgar, who won the Mile in 5:12.38 to set a new meet record. On the boy’s side, the program also saw Josh Foley throw a new personal-best in the shot put (41-5.25) to place fourth and reach the podium.
Lucido, Georgetown earn another mercy-rule win
It’s now seven games, and six wins via the mercy-rule for the Georgetown baseball team.
The undefeated Royals (7-0) took care of business in another dominant showing on Sunday, blasting past Whittier Tech in five innings, 18-3. Senior captain Carter Lucido paced the offense with a 4-for-4 day that included three runs scored and three RBI, and also tossed 3.2 scoreless innings with seven Ks to pick up the win on the mound.
It was part of a monster 19-hit day for the Royals that also saw Hayden Ruth, Ethan Lee, Jason Gioia, Ty Gilmore, Oliver Thibeault and Brendan Loewen each record two hits.
Penniman deals, but Triton falls in tough non-league game
The Triton softball team has certainly scheduled tough in the non-CAL portion of its slate, and couldn’t find much offense in a 2-0 setback to Beverly on Friday. But Emma Penniman was still excellent in the circle regardless for the Vikings (2-2), striking out 12 while only one of the runs she allowed was earned.
Pentucket softball can’t find the big hit
The amount of hits wasn’t the problem for the Pentucket softball team during Friday’s 5-2 non-league loss to North Andover.
The Panthers (4-1) belted out eight total hits for the game, but couldn’t find that timely one to plate more than a couple of runs. Sophomore Sarah Freitas continued her torrid start to the season with a 3-for-4 day, and Izzy Hackett also stayed hot going 2-for-4 with the team’s two RBI. Kayla Murphy, Mia Bartholomew and Caitlin McCoy also had hits for the Panthers.
Creps scores twice, but Amesbury lax falls
Nicky Creps had another solid game with a pair of goals and an assist, but the Amesbury lacrosse team fell to Tewksbury on Friday, 11-6. Max White, Ben Berg and Chase Linsey had the other tallies for the Redhawks, and both White and Hagan also had an assist each.
Moroz playing well for Govs softball
The Governor’s Academy softball team took losses to Tilton and BB&N this past week, but local star Angelina Moroz continued to play well. The Merrimac native struck out 12 during 11.0 innings of work over those two games, and also went a combined 1-for-3 at the plate with a home run and a pair of walks.
