HAVERHILL — The Haverhill Ottaviani Invitational once again brought out many of the best in Eagle-Tribune area track — and they delivered in tremendous fashion.
Local athletes won 24 events in a dominant day at the 45th annual Ottaviani Invitational at the Hillies’ Sapienza Memorial Track.
Earning wins for host Haverhill were Maddie Goncalves in the girls shot put (meet-record 38-0), Connor Chmieleski in the boys shot put (48-10.5), Lauren Downer in the 800 (2:23.47) and Natanael Vigo Catala in the 200 (22.36).
Central Catholic won the girls team title, led by individual victories from Franchesca Thurston in the javelin (91-6), Anya Neira in the triple jump (36-7.5), Macy Daigle in the high jump (meet-record 5-4) and Laura Fennessy in the 400 (1:00.42).
Methuen’s Lauren Quarm ran a new meet record in the 100-meter dash (12.28) and Andover’s Jason DeJesus took the boys dash (11.14).
Pinkerton finished second as a team for the boys (67.50) and girls (61.50).
