The town of Fairview’s only major infrastructure project came after it was awarded a $250,000 Community Block Development Grant in May 2023, to fund the repaving of Wesley Avenue. That’s not to say the town simply rested on its laurels all year, instead it focused its efforts on smaller more community centric projects.
Most recently, the Fairview Town Council named Shane Bentley as its new Parks Director, and discussed revising the guidelines for its t-ball and youth baseball/softball programs.
Bentley won’t be the only new addition to the parks this spring. Two new dugouts were completed at one of the park’s ballfields. Town Clerk Debbie Shedd said, volunteers have also worked to modify the park’s lighting to cast a more even glow across the fields.
The Randall Shedd Community Park also received praise from one of the organizers of a charity disc-golf tournament who proposed investing in the course.
Future improvements could still be on the horizon in Fairview. As recently as October 2023, the town continued its discussion to add a splash pad and a pickleball court to the park.
Shedd said that the town has not used any of its American Rescue Plan funds which could provide a funding source for improvement projects as the funds must be assigned to a project by the end of 2024.
