Boys Southeast Whitfield 1, Dalton Academy 0
Southeast Whitfield came into Wednesday’s game against Dalton Academy on an eight-game win streak. The Pumas were on a 12-game winning spurt.
One team’s win streak had to end, and, after a 1-0 Southeast win, it was the Pumas that took the loss.
A Joseph Pina goal lifted the Raiders (9-4) to a 1-0 win over Dalton Academy (13-2) Wednesday, continuing Southeast’s win streak to nine games.
The loss was the first for Dalton Academy since a 4-1 defeat to Cass on Feb. 16, the second game of the Puma season. Dalton Academy will play Trion at home tonight at 7 p.m., looking to start a new win streak. The Pumas can secure a Region 7-A DI title with a win.
Southeast, after starting the season 0-4 due to both injuries and a tough early schedule, have rattled off nine victories and wrapped up a Region 7-4A title. The Raiders next play Edmond North on April 4.
Dalton 1, Chestatee 0
Dalton (12-3-1) defeated Chestatee (7-6-3) 1-0 Thursday night.
Francisco Torres scored the lone goal of the game for Dalton, a first-half goal.
Dalton will play at Chattanooga’s Baylor on April 9.
Gordon Central 3, Murray County 1
Murray County (4-9-1) fell to Gordon Central (9-5) 3-1 Wednesday.
The loss snapped a two-game win streak for Murray.
The Indians play undefeated Model tonight at 7.
Girls Dalton 1, Southeast Whitfield 1
Dalton (7-4-3) and Southeast Whitfield (9-1-1) played to a 1-1 rivalry draw in the first round of El Clásico Femenil this season.
Andrea Dominguez scored the goal for Dalton.
The two teams will square off again to close the season on April 12, but both teams have games between now and the rematch.
Southeast plays April 5 against Starr’s Mill, while Dalton plays at Ringgold’s Heritage on April 9.
Murray County 4, Gordon Central 3
Murray County (8-7) won its third game in a row when the Lady Indians defeated Gordon Central (2-11) 4-3 Wednesday night.
Linda Lopez, Iyali Perez, Leslie Lara and Rosa Pedro Reynoso each scored a goal for Murray, while Lopez, Perez and Pedro Reynoso assisted.
Murray hosts Model tonight at 5.
