Egg Hunts
Red Hill Farms-Phillips Family will hold an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30. Children’s hunt for 5 and younger will begin at 10 a.m. All other ages will begin at 11 a.m.
Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Lakeside Park on Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and will include ages 0-13.
Churches
Sunrise Service at Chapel in the Pines will be at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, March 31.
On Sunday, March 31, Victory Pell City will have three services to fit your needs at 8:10 a.m., 9:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Hope to see you at one of the services. Victory Talladega will hold two services beginning at 9:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Childcare is available at all services. Then the following Sunday, April 7, at Victory Pell City and Talladega is DREAMCAKE SUNDAY.
Schools
Pell City High School and Victory Christian School held their Proms on Friday night. There were lots of beautiful young ladies and handsome young men attending. I am sure everyone had a wonderful time.
Summer Driver’s Education Registration (PCHS) will be Tuesday, April 9. Registration forms are available in the counselor’s office and the cost is $20.
Congratulations to Mrs. Elliott for her exceptional accomplishment. We are excited to announce her selection as the State Farm Teacher of the Month for March.
Sports
The PCHS Basketball Banquet was held at The Venue Sunday, March 17. Several awards were given including: Michael Snow, Offensive Player of the Year and MVP of the Year; Jaden Young, Offensive Player of the Year; Garrison Hildebrant, Panther Award; Caleb Groce, Most Rebounds; Caden Donahoo, Most Improved Player of the Year; T.J. Cooper, Defensive Player of the Year; Tre Peterson, Most Assistants; and Austin Walker, Manager of the Year.
Last weekend Pell City Archery competed in the 2024 St. Clair Co. Tournament. PCHS brought home the championship. Both the high school and jr. high teams won Top Shot awards. Top Shot of the entire tournament was Sophie Cook. High school division Bullseye: 1st place girls Sophie Cook; 2nd place girls Kimberly Batson, 3rd place girls Bella Kate Garrett, 5th place girls Jaimee Landrum, 5th place boys Garrett Henderson, High School division 3D: Top Shot girls Sophie Cook, Top Shot boys Parker Cooper, Jr High division Bullseye: Top Shot boys Levi Cox. Sophie, Kimberly and Bella Kate all won scholarships from University of Montevallo. PCHS Archery scored a school record once again with a team score of 3,338.
PCHS Girls Wrestling interest meeting will be April 9 at 5:30 p.m. in the PCHS lunchroom. This is for 7th-12th grades girls. See coach Huff or coach Reaves for more information.
Local
Lance Bell will be sending one boy and one girl to camp this year. If you have a son or daughter between the ages of 12 and 14, who would like to go to space camp, follow the link below. You also need to be a constituent of District 11 which includes St. Clair, Talladega, and Shelby Counties.
For students ages 12-14 with an interest in attending space camp in Huntsville this summer, feel free to complete the application found on this website. The deadline to apply is March 31. This is an excellent opportunity for our students. Scholarships cover the cost with the exception of travel to and from the camp. The Pell City Historical Society will once again be sponsoring and presenting the 8th Annual Pell City Downtown Historical Walking Tours on Saturdays, April 6 and 13. Tour times are 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. All tours will begin at city hall, 1905 1st Ave No. Arrive 15 minutes prior to each tour for registration and information.
