NEWFANE — The two-story residence at 7030 Ellicott Road sustained heavy damage due to a fire late Thursday. By phone, the owner relayed to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office that nobody was home at the time.
Central dispatch fielded a call about the fire at 9:53 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded and confirmed the house was engulfed in flames. The fire was subsequently extinguished by members of the Wrights Corners, Miller Hose, Olcott, South Wilson, Terry’s Corners, Cambria, Hartland and Clarence Center volunteer fire companies. Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station Fire Company assisted.
No injuries to first responders were reported. The house sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, the sheriff’s office said. The Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit is tasked with determining the cause of the fire.
