Keyser 9 Spring Mills 8
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A two-out error on a Chase Davis ground ball gave Keyser the lead in the seventh, and Evan Jenkins struck out the side in the bottom half to give the Golden Tornado a thrilling win Wednesday.
Keyser (2-1) — which dropped its opener to Hampshire, 3-1, before bounding back with a 12-2 rout of Petersburg over the weekend — led Spring Mills, 5-2, before the Cardinals plated sixth in the fifth to take the lead.
After back-to-back strikeouts started the Keyser top half of the sixth, the Tornado tied the score. Davis plated a pair with a single, and Hunter Harr drove in one a batter later for an 8-all tie.
Noah Broadwater homered and scored three times, Harr was 2 for 5, Patrick Liller ended 2 for 4 with a double, and Logan Rotruck tripled.
Jenkins picked up the win, tossing three innings of one-hit shutout ball with seven strikeouts and two walks.
Keyser is at Grafton on Saturday at noon.
