LE CENTER — A woman who police say threatened law enforcement officers during a seven-hour standoff at her Waterville home Saturday now faces felony assault and threats charges.
Ande Bremmer, 30, was charged Monday in Le Sueur County District Court with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and threats of violence involving reckless disregard or risk.
She was taken into custody 7:15 a.m. Saturday after an all-night standoff that prompted authorities to evacuate the immediate residential area.
Authorities say the visit to Bremmer’s residence that led to a standoff was actually their fourth of the evening, all relating to domestic disturbance calls. The fourth call included an additional element: a threat against law enforcement. This prompted Waterville police to seek additional help from outside agencies including police from Le Sueur, Le Center and Montgomery and the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office.
“At times, Bremmer would hold a gun outside her window; on occasion she would walk outside the residence brandishing a long gun, waving it around saying, ‘Where are you at,’ ‘Come and get me,’ ‘Get away, leave me alone,’ and ‘Where you at bitches?’” court documents state. “Bremmer never actually fired the long gun, however, the manner in which she was presenting it was threatening.”
Authorities say Bremmer also “made comments about shooting law enforcement and shooting anyone that would approach the residence.”
An acquaintance of Bremmer’s told police there were multiple firearms and ammunition in the residence including two shotguns, two assault rifles and two long guns, and that Bremmer “knew how to use them.”
After a tactical team fired tear gas into the residence, Bremmer surrendered. Following a medical evaluation, she was jailed.
In a court hearing Monday where Bremmer appeared remotely, bail was set at $500,000 without conditions or $200,000 on the condition she not use drugs, alcohol or firearms and attend mandatory court proceedings. As of Monday afternoon, she had not posted bail or bond.
Her initial in-person court appearance is set for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Her attorney could not be reached for comment.
