CUMBERLAND — Allegany College of Maryland was selected as the final seed of the 24-team NJCAA Division 1 national tournament and will face No. 9 Cowley, Kansas, on Sunday at 1:15 p.m.
All games will be played at the Hutchinson Sports Arena in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The Trojans (26-7) defeated Harford, 62-58, in overtime Saturday to advance to the national tournament for the first time since 2019 and just the second time in 15 years.
Allegany previously made the tournament in 1985-88, ‘91, ‘93, ‘96, ‘98, ‘01-03 and ‘09. The Trojans were national runner-ups in 1996 and ‘01.
Cowley (27-5) received one of the eight at-large bids to nationals after falling to Hutchinson Community College, Kansas, 89-83, in Region 6 semifinals.
Cowley was ranked No. 11 in the country in the final NJCAA Division 1 poll of the regular season.
The top eight seeds at nationals receive a bye to the second round. The winner of the Allegany/Cowley game will take on No. 8 Northwest Florida State (28-5) the following Monday, March 25, at 6 p.m.
Northwest Florida State was ranked ninth in the final national NJCAA Division 1 poll.
Barton, Kansas (32-1), received the No. 1 overall seed, followed by South Plains, Texas (31-2), Salt Lake, Utah (29-3), Vincennes, Indiana (30-3), Indian Hills, Iowa (27-5), Chipola, Florida (29-4), Triton, Illinois (31-2) and Northwest Florida State.
