HOLLY POND — West Point’s varsity softball team pounded out 23 hits and used a nine-run second inning to pull away for a 17-4 road victory over Holly Pond on Monday.
Sidney Burks’ three-run homer — one of her two bombs in the contest — highlighted the decisive frame. The Warriors added four more runs in the third inning, two in the fourth and two in the fifth to improve to 6-2 overall.
Burks (six RBIs), Macie Brown (RBI) and Kara Jones (RBI) each recorded four hits, while Macayla Wilkins had three. Brinlee Phillips (three RBIs), Kortni Baker (two RBIs) and Kylee Quinn (RBI), meanwhile, each registered two hits. Liberty Shadix (two RBIs) and Katie Beth Yovino rounded out the solid offensive performance with one hit apiece.
Holly Pond’s Maggie Nail (two RBIs) and Maycie Black (RBI) led the Broncos with two hits apiece.
