DOWNTOWN – Local musicians will present movie music during a concert in Bettiol Theater at Foothills Performing Arts and Civic Center at 24 Market St. in Oneonta, at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18.
According to a media release, performed by the Oneonta Community Concert Band, Sunday’s concert will be presented in memory of Rene Prins, its longtime conductor and director, who died recently.
Kerri L. Hogle will conduct what is being called “A Summer at the Movies” program. The traditional “Good Ol’ Summertime in Winter Concert” is free and open to the public.
The program will feature medleys and themes from screen productions. Hogle has selected pieces including “The Godfather Trilogy,” the “Muppet Movie Medley,” Symphonic Suite from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “The Incredibles” and “Ashokan Farewell.”
Players will perform compositions and arrangements by John Williams, Michael Giacchino, Alan Silvestri, Elmer Bernstein, Hans Zimmer, Jack Bullock and John Cacavas.
The performance is supported by a grant from the Dewar Foundation.
The Oneonta Community Concert Band includes professional and amateur musicians who perform family-friendly programs to audiences of all ages. The band presents about six free concerts annually.
