BURGLARY IN PROGRESS
Falls police were called to a home on the 1300 block of Ashland Avenue about 12:30 p.m. Saturday for a report of a burglary in progress. Arriving officers found an open window and entered the home. As they were searching it, they heard a loud bang from a door being thrown open and a state trooper on the scene yelling, “He’s running.” After a short chase, the suspect was taken into custody. He initially lied about his name. After his identity was confirmed, it was determined he was wanted on a city warrant. The suspect was also charged with second-degree burglary.
BURGLARY
The owner of two adjoining businesses on the 300 block of Rainbow Boulevard reported to Falls police that sometime overnight Thursday, someone entered the building and took two cash registers containing $350 combined. The suspects also damaged the internet wiring for the monitor system. A door that is normally locked but left unlocked Thursday was the suspected point of entry.
THEFT
A resident on the 500 block of 17th Street told Falls police that they were watching TV about 2:40 a.m. Sunday when their Ring camera alerted them to movement on their porch. When they checked the feed, they saw a man come onto their porch, grab a snowblower and run off. The estimated loss is $300.
BURGLARY IN PROGRESS
Falls police were called to a home on the 500 block of 28th Street about 7:40 p.m. Saturday after an alert from an alarm company. The residents of the home were out of town and police found a broken window with a screen ripped open. Officers checked the home and didn’t see anything out of place or anyone inside. The window was secured.
THEFT
A 59-year-old Amherst woman was charged with petit larceny about 4 p.m. Sunday after police said she concealed four bottles of liquor in her purse valued at $334 and tried to walk out of a liquor store on the 8400 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard.
