ST. PETER — A St. Peter man recently received a jail sentence in a sexual solicitation case involving a minor.
John Michael Swan, 49, was convicted on one felony solicitation charge and three felony child porn possession charges in Nicollet County District Court.
Swan is set to serve 120 days in jail plus three years on supervised probation. He could face up to 255 months, or 21 years and three months, in prison if he violates terms of his probation, according to court records.
Terms of his probation include no contact with the victim or victims, completing a sexual offender treatment program and no contact with nonfamily members younger than 18.
The investigation into Swan dates back to 2022, according to a criminal complaint. The St. Peter Police Department received a tip about a Dropbox account containing child porn. Swan at one point faced 10 child porn possession charges related to the case, but all but three were dismissed.
Police reportedly went on to discover sexual communications between Swan and a minor girl. The girl accused him of requesting sexually explicit images from her.
