WILLSBORO 44
WILLSBORO — Griffin Farr scored 17 points and Drezden Russell came off the bench to score 11 to help lead the Orange to a MVAC non-league win. Farr had 11 of his points in the first quarter.
The Warriors’ Harvey Merrill led all scorers with 23 points, including 14 from the line, to go along with six rebounds, six assists and five steals. Sophomore Cole Gay hit in double figures for the first time in his career with 10 points before fouling out.
“We jumped out to a 15-11 lead after one with a balanced scoring attack,” Willsboro coach Eric Arnold said. “Unfortunately, we struggled to score the ball and defend the three-point line in the second quarter, leading to a 29-22 halftime deficit.
“The visiting Orange held off a couple of second-half runs and sealed the deal with some late free throws. Periodic defensive breakdowns and failure to convert chippies hampered our cause.”
