A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 9:56 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, has claimed the life of an Athens man, according to Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Sammy H. Keyes, 73, was killed when the 2019 Ford Edge that he was driving was struck by a 2003 Ford F-250 driven by Joshua James Moore, 36, of Athens.
After the initial impact, the Ford Edge left the roadway and struck a fence. Keyes was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. On Monday, Jan. 29, Keyes succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased while at the hospital.
The crash occurred on Alabama 251 near Mooresville Road, approximately three miles north of Athens, in Limestone County. Nothing further is available as troopers with the ALEA Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
