MANKATO — Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging has awarded VINE Faith in Action $278,587 under Title III of the Older Americans Act and the American Rescue Plan Act grant programs.
“Thanks to MNRAAA’s grants, VINE will be able to continue to help elders from diverse cultures access services, help those with depression feel better, and guide and encourage individuals as they care for their friends, family members, and neighbors,” VINE’s Program Director, Adam Massmann stated in a press release.
The awards are classified as Title III-B, Title III-D and Title III-E grants.
OAA funds are administered by Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging, a state-designated agency for 27 counties in Minnesota.
Title III OAA funds are awarded to agencies and organizations that provide direct services for people age 60 and older and their caregivers. The funds are to be used to develop a coordinated and comprehensive system of services.
The American Rescue Plan Act was passed by Congress in 2021 to provide further relief to older adults and caregivers caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Funding under the act follows the guidelines established by the Older Americans Act.
“MNRAAA is excited to be partnering with VINE to continue and expand services to older adults and caregivers in our 27-county area.” MNRAAA Executive Director Jason Swanson stated. “These services are integral to keeping older adults in their communities and as independent as possible.”
