BOYS BASKETBALL
Pingree 70, Lexington Christian 59: Ray Cuevas erupted for 34 points and the Highlanders picked up a momentous league win. Jack Murphy added 13 points in the victory and Charlie Lynch reached double figures with ten.
Peabody 68, KIPP Academy 32: The senior duo of Anthony Forte (21 points, three assists) and Raphel Laurent (19 points, six rebounds, five assists, four steals) combined for 40 and the Tanners (10-1) officially punched their ticket to the D1 state tournament. Jariel Tolentino added eight points, Johnny Lucas scored five and Cam Connolly had a great night on the glass with seven rebounds.
Triton 65, Essex Tech 30: Elijah Copeland had 12 points with eight rebounds to pace the Hawks. Sophomore Hayden Ferguson scored eight in his first career start and fellow tenth grader Graeme Dineed gave the Hawks some excellent minutes.
St. Mary’s Lynn 79, Bishop Fenwick 56: James Meklis had another solid scoring night with 20 points and four assists and Brady Jenkins and Dom Paniello each scored a dozen for the Crusaders. Jimmy Vahey pulled down 18 rebounds and also chipped in eight points.
BC High 59, St. John’s Prep 36: It was only a four point game at recess but the Prep had a rough final 16 minutes and fell to 3-6.
Georgetown 51, Hamilton-Wenham 36: The Royals put an end to Hamilton-Wenham’s recent win streak.
Masconomet 57, Saugus 36: Sophomore Jamason Vella scored 16 points to help the Chieftains even their record at 4-4. Jimmy Farrell added a baker’s dozen and Devin O’Brien chipped in with 11. John Green, Chase Rubicco and Joseph Vella were excellent defensively in a second half in which Masco held the Sachems to 15.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Beverly 52, Gloucester 46: Senior captain Lauren Caley scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Panthers improved to 5-3. Mia Bilotti, another senior captain, scored 10 with four rebounds and freshman Jules Stevenson added 10 with three assists. Infinity Burns had a great game off the bench with seven points plus seven rebounds.
Hamilton-Wenham 39, Georgetown 36: Gaby Campbell scored 18 points and a three-ball by Sadie Gamber sparked a late 8-0 run as the Generals held on to improve to 7-3. Annie Moynihan also had a nice outing with seven points.
Triton 43, Essex Tech 25: Thais Dos Santos had a dozen points with 10 rebounds and two blocks for the Hawks (3-8). Janelle Dalton added four points and four steals, Kennedy Moyle scored four and did a nice defensive job along with Savana Zagoreos.
Montrose 60, Covenant Christian 27: Liza Minogue scored 15 points for the Cougars and Anne Hammond chipped in with eight.
Manchester Essex 49, Ipswich 43: The Tigers were narrowly unable to earn their first win.
BOYS HOCKEY
Pingree 5, Wilbraham & Monson 3: Max Kirianov had a goal and two assists and the Highlanders prevailed. Also scoring were Max Trudel, Cam Anderson, Joe Gaffney and Quinn Moses as Pingree (now 6-6-2) won its fourth straight.
GIRLS HOCKEY
Thayer 5, Pingree 0: Freshman goalie Piper Davekos was outstanding with 53 saves against one of the top-ranked girls teams in New England.
WOMEN’S COLLEGE HOCKEY
Salem State 1, Southern Maine 1: Kaia Hollingsworth made an incredible 47 saves and stopped every shot she saw in the second and third periods to make sure the Vikings (5-10-1) skated away with a point. Lexi Warner had Salem State’s goal on the power play in the first period.
Endicott 4, UNE 0: The No. 14 ranked Gulls (9-4-2) got a 23 save shutout from Casey Moritz to start the CCC weekend with a win. Rivers Morris had a goal and an assist for the winners and Jenna Siebold, Quin Healy and Payton Hansen also lit the lamp.
MEN’S COLLEGE HOCKEY
Curry 2, Endicott 1 (OT): Despite an edge in shots on net, the Gulls (8-4-2) went down at home midway through overtime. Jackson Sterrett provided the tying goal assisted by Zach Mazur and Cam Speck in the second period and goalie Ryan Wilson made 26 saves.
