Meridian and Lauderdale County residents are encouraged to keep an eye on the forecast as potential severe weather moves through the area on Friday.
The National Weather Service in Jackson is forecasting an enhanced risk of severe storms with 60-80 mile per hour winds, possible hail up to a quarter in size and the potential for tornadoes. The strong winds bring the possibility of downed trees and power lines causing outages throughout the area.
Friday’s weather is expected to move east across the state with the main threat of damage for Meridian from 9 a.m. to noon.
