VALDOSTA – Lowndes County Commissioners are moving forward their plans to modify the Francis Lake Warehouse.
The warehouse, located at 5333 Mill Store Road in Lake Park, will undergo construction including enclosing the open bay of the existing metal building. Some listed improvements were adding a new monorail beam, insulation, lighting and ventilation.
Shown documents said the additional site work will be grading, asphalt paving, a new pump wash basin, a new sanitary drain and a new pump storage shelter structure.
Chuck Smith and Son Construction was selected as the low bidder in the amount of $395,980. The additional requested services of a lift station and spray foam were listed as $1,000 each.
Land purchase
After adjourning an executive session Monday morning, Lowndes County commissioners moved forward with a land purchase agreement.
The agenda was amended adding a real purchase and sale agreement for 412 and 416 N. Lee St.
Chad McLeod, the county director of engineering services, said, “As discussed this morning, Lowndes County has been pursuing for the purchase of the properties located at 412 through 416 North Lee Street. Staff has reached an agreement with Miss Shirlene Joseph for the purchase of the property for $75,000, which was the appraisal.”
He said the title search revealed that Joseph did not have a clean title to the property, which requires some curative title work.
The board of commissioners moved unanimously to approve the modification bid and land purchase.
