Niagara Falls firefighters extinguished a kitchen fire at a residence on South Avenue late Friday night.
About 11:41 p.m., a full assignment (Engines 3, 4, 8, Truck 1, Rescue 1, Car 80) was dispatched to 1019 South Ave., along with Niagara Falls police, for reports of a structure fire.
Upon arrival, no smoke or fire could be seen. NFPD officers alerted the Engine 3 crew that the fire was on the second floor. Crews went up the front hallway stairs and were met with heavy smoke. Crews then searched for the fire which was located in the kitchen and extinguished.
The fire was determined to have started in the kitchen and was the result of cooking with grease.
Two occupants were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
