Plattsburgh — Wednesday, marked the first of two days of Clinton Community College’s Holiday Classic.
It was an action packed day as five schools from across the area converged on the campus to play basketball from noon to eight p.m.
The Saranac, Peru and Boquet Valley boys and girls teams, as well as the Seton Catholic boys and Malone girls took part.
GIRLS
SARANAC 54

Brenna Ducatte is a force to be reckoned with. She continues to have impressive showings as the Spartans topped the Huskies, 54-35.
Ducatte’s 31 points led all scorers, but she was active all over the court. She finished with seven steals and eight rebounds as she neared a triple-double.
Saranac rolled offensively with a strong start, scoring 21 points in the first quarter. After that they never looked backed as they entered the break with a 14 point lead at 36-20.
Molly Denis had 11 points and six rebounds while Maddie Gagnier added eight points, six rebounds and three steals.
Malone’s Lilliana-Teresa Sosa and Ava Lilliock scored 11 and 12 points, respectively.
“We need to do a better job valuing the ball as we had 14 first half turnovers,” Saranac’s Tim Newell said. “We continue to play good team defense, forcing our opponents into tough shots.”

The Nighthawks played a complete game in their 59-25 victory over the Griffins.
They forced Boquet Valley into multiple turnovers, thanks to their press. It led to easy shots inside and often to wide open shooters beyond the arc, as Peru made eight threes.
“This was an incredible team win. We came out strong right from the start,” Peru’s Brittany Marshall said. “Our press was intense, allowing several turnovers early. We took advantage of great opportunities inside the paint as well as taking good open outside shots.
“I am extremely proud of the passion, teamwork and energy our girls had tonight.”
Every Nighthawk got in on the action as multiple players scored at least one basket. Reese Duprey led the team with 17 points. Vanessa Lawyer added nine.
Boquet Valley’s Ella Lobdell led all scorers with 20 points. Marshall called Lobdell a talented player who is tough to contain.

The Griffins had three scorers reach double digits as they pulled away in the second half to defeat the Nighthawks, 59-37.
It was a nine point lead for Boquet Valley at the break at 29-20. The pressure increased forcing Peru into mistakes and allowed the Griffins to pull away in the second half.
Boquet Valley’s Jackson Hooper led all scorers with 17 points. Ben Burdo added 16 and had eight steals. Maddox Rice chipped in with 14.
Jordan Osborne and Hunter Eagle led the Nighthawks with 10 points each.

Saranac put the pedal to the medal and never looked back. Roaring to a 39-18 halftime lead, the Spartans would go on to defeat the Knights, 65-34.
Saranac was led by Henry Napper with 17 points. Teammate Bryce DeAngelo added 15 while Caswell McCoy had nine.
Seton Catholic was led by Aiden Pearl with a game high 19 points. Olive Hughes added eight points, as he made both of Seton’s threes.

PLATTSBURGH — Natalie Battinelli scored 24 points, and Plattsburgh would go on to defeat Ogdensburg, 57-42.
It would be all Hornets throughout the game as they found their groove in the first half, leading 38-19 at the break.
Plattsburgh’s Ava Weiss and Essynce Gorham added nine and eight points, respectively.
OFA saw a strong game from Amya LaFlair who had a game high 31.
“This was a much needed win for us after a very challenging week prior,” Plattsburgh’s Kelly Weiss said. “ We are playing better as a team, but need to continue to improve as the season progresses.”
With the win, the Hornets return to .500 with an overall record of 3-3.

HARRISVILLE — Beekmantown found itself in too deep of a hole to rally, but fought back in the third quarter to make in single digits in their 63-51 defeat to Harrisville.
“Harrisville got off to a fast start and had us on our heels for the entire first half,” Beekmantown’s Ryan Converse said. “Our guys made some good defensive adjustments at the half and made a nice run in the 3rd quarter, cutting it to single digits on a couple of occasions, but we couldn’t get close enough down the stretch to put any real game pressure on them.
“They are a solid team that was well coached.”
Every Pirate that touched the court scored. They were led by Tanner Sullivan with a game high of 27 points. Nolan Sullivan added 10 with Liam Winters chipped in with 9.
Miguel Herrera led the Eagles with 21 points, with Nathan Parliament adding 17.
Beekmantown falls to 3-2 overall while standing 1-1 in the CVAC.
