North Tonawanda police officers armed with machine guns searched a city Tops following a threat phoned to police on Thursday night.
About 7 p.m. Thursday, Niagara County dispatchers received a call from a man threatening to shoot people at the Meadow Drive store in NT. Police noted the caller used a voice disguising device and the number he used could not immediately be traced.
Heavily armed police responded to the store following the call, cleared the building and found no credible threat.
Police said employees and customers were escorted to their vehicles after the threat was dispelled.
The threat remains an ongoing investigation, according to North Tonawanda police.
