CUMBERLAND — The Western Maryland Athletic Conference dominated the all-region team, released by the Maryland Football Foundation on Friday.
All but one player named to the Class 1A West all-region team are from either Allegany or Garrett County.
Fort Hill led all teams with 10 selections. Mountain Ridge had eight representatives and Allegany earned seven nods.
Northern earned a pair of selections.
Will Patterson of Mountain Ridge was the quarterback. In the backfield are Jabril Daniels from Fort Hill, Brett Patterson of Allegany and Kyle Broadwater from Northern.
The Sentinels and Miners combined for the offensive line. Fort Hill’s Camron Banks, Brayden Sines and Logan Vanmeter join Mountain Ridge’s Cooper Lindeman and Dayton Llewellyn.
The Miners’ Andrew Ketterman and David Miller made the team at wide receiver and Zach Michael of the Campers is the tight end.
Brody Williams of Alco was chosen as an athlete, or all-purpose player.
Tyler Cook from Mountain Ridge was the pick at kicker.
Six Sentinels made the team on defense. Carter Hess, Bryson Metz and Cooper Silber represent the defensive line along with Will Bannon of Mountain Ridge.
Zak von Garrel of Smithsburg is the other defensive lineman and the only selection not from the WestMAC.
At linebacker, Jaylan Atkinson of the Sentinels joins Garrett Michaels from the Miners, Jackson Resh of the Campers and Nick Riley from the Huskies.
The secondary consists of Braelyn Younger and Landon Sensabaugh of Fort Hill and Isaiah Fields and Dae Dae Smith from Allegany.
Allegany’s Blake Powell rounds out the team at punter.
The all-state players from Class 1A will be announced on Wednesday along with the consensus all-state players. The consensus all-state players will be the top 30 overall players.
