GLOUCESTER — A pair of goals from senior Colby Jewell enabled the Gloucester boys hockey team to be tied up with visiting Medford, 2-2, through two periods Tuesday night in the opening round of the Cape Ann Savings Bank Tournament at Talbot Rink.
Jewell scored on a quick wrist shot from the slot to give the Fishermen a 1-0 lead in the first period before Medford tied it 22 seconds before the frame ended.
Jewell connected again 2:27 into the second period, with Jackson Hakes assisting for the second time on the evening. Again, the visiting Mustangs responded by converting on the power play.
Senior goalie Nick Tarantino had 15 saves through two periods for Gloucester.
The winner of this game (see www.gloucestertimes.com for a complete game report) will face Barrington, RI — a 2-1 winner over Marblehead in the evening’s first game — for the CASB championship Thursday at 8 p.m. at Talbot Rink.
