WILLIAMSPORT, Ind. — The Bi-County championships belong to the Fountain Central Mustangs for the 2023-24 school year.
Fountain Central defeated Seeger 47-41 for its second straight title in the boys division, while in the girls division, Fountain Central won its first title in six years, beating Seeger 38-31.
It’s the first time since the 2008-09 season that the Mustangs have captured both titles in the same season.
For the Lady Patriots, they were trying to win their sixth straight Bi-County title.
Will Harmon had a game-high 28 points for the Mustangs, who improved to 5-1 win the victory, while Eli Foxworthy chipped in with 11.
Seeger, which falls to 6-2, was led by Christian Holland with 12, while Luke Pluimer finished with 11.
In the girls contest, Hannah Prickett was the game’s top scorer with 17 points for the Mustangs (15-3), while Rylee Simko had 11 in the winning effort.
Leading the way for the Patriots (10-4) was Rylea Wetz with nine.
Up next for the Fountain Central boys is the Clinton Central Tournament on Thursday, while the Seeger boys will take on West Lafayette on Friday.
In girls basketball, Fountain Central is idle until a Jan. 9 contest at Covington, while Seeger will play in the Hauser Tournament starting on Wednesday.
