CNHI Executive Editor - Traverse City, Michigan The Record-Eagle in Traverse City seeks an experienced editor to lead a newsroom that's won Michigan "Newspaper of the Year" honors six of the last seven years. Applicants should have a college degree and newspaper management background that includes working with budgets. The successful candidate must also have thorough knowledge of producing local content for print and digital platforms, including web, mobile and tablets. She or he must understand the challenges facing the news industry and have ideas on how to turn them into opportunities. Other attributes we will place high value on include: -- Proven leadership and people ability. Especially the capacity to motivate, coach and mentor the news staff to turn out quality local content. Initiative and imagination in everyday coverage and in planning projects and special content. This includes proven time-management skills. -- Strong core journalism skills: Reporting, writing, editing and photography. And solid knowledge of essential journalism values such as ethics, libel and privacy standards, FOI laws and public records access. -- Passion for local content that reflects the paper's responsibility to be the best source of interesting, insightful and authoritative information about the Traverse City market.
