Derry News named New Hampshire's best weekly

Newspaper earns honor for second consecutive year

DERRY, N.H. - The Derry News is the best weekly newspaper in New Hampshire, a designation bestowed by the New Hampshire Press Association in its annual Best Media Contest.

The Derry News won first place in the general excellence category for the second consecutive year. It competed against the state's non-daily newspapers.

Editor Jo-Anne MacKenzie was named Editorial Writer of the Year, and Photojournalist Tim Jean was named Photographer of the Year.

In all, the Derry News and its staff collected a dozen awards in the contest. The awards were given Oct. 12.

The Derry News is owned by Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., of Montgomery, Ala.
