Managing Editor

The Gainesville Daily Register, a 5,000 circulation six-day newspaper located in beautiful northern Texas, is seeking an editor to manage its news staff.

The current news staff is dedicated and focused on providing our readers with the best intensely local community news. We are looking for the right individual to help them enhance this focus and take the paper to a whole new level of journalistic integrity.

Candidates should be energetic and enthusiastic and must have ideas for helping shape the future of the daily newspaper. We need someone with vision and the energy to see the vision through to reality.

He or she must also be committed to honestly being a dedicated team player in our management group. Each manager wears many hats, and cross training ensures success.

Primary tasks, in addition to providing genuine news/editorial leadership, include editing, page layout and steering the department. The ideal candidate must be able to delegate while performing a multitude of tasks, including editorials for print and our web site. The Gainesville Daily Register also produces ancillary and niche publications, which also fall under the responsibility of the editorial/news department.
